Congratulations to Crestline’s Spotlight on Success Recipient, Regina Paratransit Service!

October 20, 2015 – Saskatoon, SK, Canada - We’re honoring and shining the spotlight on the Regina Paratransit Service. Regina, Saskatchewan has a population of more than 230,000 and was noted in 2014 to be the fourth fastest growing census metropolitan area (CMA) in Canada!

Specialized transportation is deep rooted in Regina, dating back to 1949, when charitable organizations began providing transportation to and from hospitals and rehabilitation centres. The Regina Paratransit Service was formally founded 40 years ago when City Council approved a provincial-municipal cost sharing arrangement on May 13, 1975, formally launching service on July 1, 1975.

Paratransit is a lifeline for those restricted in using other types of transportation. Many don’t realize that paratransit transportation is essential to helping those with accessibility requirements live a full and productive life. This service changes lives by making it possible for people to remain in their home rather than move to long-term care. Transportation to work, school, day programs, medical appointments, shopping and other important social activities, including Saskatchewan Roughrider games, makes all the difference in one’s life!

It’s no wonder the Regina Paratransit Service is so proud of their impact on the community and their desire to never stop improving how they deliver service to their customers. Well known for Excellence in Customer Service, they are committed to investing in their employees, continuing their education in best practices, executing innovative ideas, enhancing their fleet, and implementing policies and procedures that make service even more effective.

It doesn’t surprise us that with their passion and drive, Regina Paratransit Service has received many awards over the years, including CUTA National Innovation Award and City of Regina Corporate Accelerating Excellence Service Award, both in 2011 for an innovative idea (Automated Fare Collection Service and Handheld Fare Collection Devices), which has now been implemented in several cities across Canada.

Congratulations to Regina Paratransit Service on forty years of serving your community and for continually providing excellence in customer service and innovation!
